Its a word that carries a lot of emotions in our world. Its a word that can represent love and security for some, and its a word that also represents heartache for others. Father's day is a day that means something different to everyone.
For me? Its a day to reflect on my father. My Daddy. A man who has embraced that role more than anyone I know.
A man who grows up without a father is more susceptible to continue that vicious cycle...but my dad? He took the other path - a path of dedication to giving every child he meets with a look at what a dad should be.
He's been a role model to countless people, a mentor, friend, a confidant. He's not afraid to drop everything and just play. I've watched him set the example of how to really "dad" for so many young men. As a father? He's made a world of difference in so many lives.
When things are hard? He shows up. Unconditionally.
In the best times? I grew up knowing what "happy tears" are, because he never hesitated to hide the emotion that comes with love and pride.
The bond he has with my little girl is something that I am beyond grateful for - her Grandaddy is one of her very best friends. The love he has for her? A reminder, a window into the dedication and time he poured into being my Daddy through my childhood (and today).
"Father" may not carry the same meaning for everyone, but one thing I know for sure is that there are special men in this world, the "Daddys" of the world, who have been making that difference since the beginning of time.
Dad? We see you, thank you, for all you do.
